Sandton Convention Centre
19 Richards Drive, Midrand Johannesburg, Gauteng South Africa
The Gautrain is an 80 kilometre (50 miles) long mass rapid transit railway system – 15km of which is underground, built to relieve the massive traffic congestion on the highways of Johannesburg and nearby Pretoria. Expected to cut the number of cars on the N1 highway by 20%, it now offers daily commuters and occasional travellers a convenient – and fast – alternative to travelling by road.
Travellers are transported between the O.R. Tambo International Airport and the Sandton station in less than 15 minutes. Other stations include Johannesburg Park Station, Pretoria Station, Centurion, Hatfield, Marlboro, Midrand, Rhodesfield and Rosebank. Travelling at speeds of up to 160km/h (99mph), it is possible to safely travel from Johannesburg to Pretoria in only 35 minutes.
125 buses also deliver travellers to destinations within a 15km radius – and many stops are located within the Sandton area.
Purchase your Gautrain card and electronic ticket at the kiosks upon arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport, or any other station.
