Peter is a former medical Rhodes Scholar to Oxford University, former Groote Schuur Hospital Chief Specialist, UCT Professor of Anatomical Pathology, and UCT GSB MBA Gold Medallist.
He is a very experienced hospital CEO, CMO, and commercial manager of multi-site hospitals, clinics and medical laboratories. Peter is moreover a commercial company doctor and turnaround specialist, capable of inspiring and leading rapid financial turnarounds of underperforming hospitals and healthcare assets. His speciality is rapid performance enhancement Focused on producing strongly positive EBITDA in excess of 20% by marketing-driven top-line revenue growth, he combines hands on leadership with surgically precise cost-cutting, lean methodology, productivity and efficiency gains. He rigorously uses data, dashboards, MIS, ICT and technology rather than employing more people to improve company performance.
As a UK-trained Specialist Histopathologist with an MBA and over thirty years of practical clinical and business management experience, Peter’s career has successfully combined clinical service with senior hospital, departmental and transformational business team leadership positions. He has led or worked in
complex multi-site healthcare institutions in both the public and private sectors in five countries. These have included simultaneous start-ups of multiple polyclinics; Greenfield new hospital builds and commissioning as well as managing large multi-site and multi-country healthcare organisations.
