TOPIC: The Requirements for a Prescription to be Legal & Valid in South Africa
Sarah Opsahl is a retail Pharmacist currently working in the capacity of Responsible Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager within the Clicks Group. Sarah qualified with a Bachelors in Pharmacy at Nelson Mandela University in 2017. She did her internship and community service years in government hospitals and then moved into the private retail sector in 2020, where she has since remained.
Working in the private retail sector has allowed Sarah to come into contact with a wide variety of patients and prescribers alike, and has provided her with certain insights into the practice and how it may be improved.
In order to further enhance her contributions to the Pharmacy Profession as well as her local community, Sarah is currently pursuing her PCDT – a post graduate qualification at NWU, enabling pharmacists to treat patients within the Standard Treatment Guideline and Essential Medicine List frameworks.
Although Sarah is still a young budding pharmacist; she has an overwhelming passion for her profession and her patients. She strongly believes that there is great value in Multidisciplinary Cooperation, for both patients and professionals.
